Dr. Laco grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut and then attended Duke University. She didn’t know what she wanted to be after that, so she worked for 2 years as an electron microscopy technician at Duke University Medical Center in a research lab before deciding to attend medical school at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Spending ten years in North Carolina led to her love of ACC basketball, and she cheers for Duke first, UNC second! Spending ten years in North Carolina also led to her yearning for real changes of season and real culture, so she concentrated her residency search on larger cities north of the Mason- Dixon line, and ended up at the University of Minnesota for her pediatric residency. She then joined Partners in Pediatrics in 1992 and remains a board-certified pediatrician. Dr. Laco and her husband live in Plymouth. They have 2 children, one currently living in Seattle and one in New York City. Her interests include travel, cooking, back-yard birding, alpine skiing, golfing, and fishing (she has caught bass, bluegill, walleye, northern pike, several species of trout, redfish, bonefish, tarpon, and a 900 lb. black marlin!). She loves Minnesota, and particularly the Twin Cities with its wonderful culture. You will never find Dr. Laco complaining about the Minnesota weather! Advice for her patients: Be honest, get the best education that you can, and when you’re all grown up, bring your kids to see me. I love that!
